Why People Still Think Jesus Married To Mary Magdalene?

August 5th 2010 16:17
While I'm browsing some articles online, I stumble to articles titled "Were Mary Magdalene and Jesus married or not". What make me really suprise and sad, there are still people believe Jesus are married to Mary Magdalene and they are a Christian Catholic. Am I believe Jesus married to Mary Magdalene or not? Of course not. The book of DA Vinci code didn't convince me enough. Here are my thought why I believe Jesus are not married to Mary Magdalene.

According to Dan Brown, the person next to Jesus is Mary Magdalene. When I look carefully to the picture of the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci, I didn't convince me that it is a woman. Yes the person didn't have beard and look young, but so does another person at the middle left side of Jesus. Does Dan Brown have any evidence that the person next to Jesus is Mary Magdalene? From what source did he have the information if he had any? When we look at the new testament, John 13:22-25, "22His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. 23One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. 24Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, "Ask him which one he means." 25Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, "Lord, who is it?" . John 21:20-24,"20Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is going to betray you?") 21When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?" 22Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me." 23Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?" 24This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true. Base on this, theBible already state who was at Jesus side. The person next to Jesus was indeed St. John himself.

Another statement by Dan Brown is there are no Judas during the last supper. His place was taken by Mary Magdalene. But according to the new testament there was Judas during the last supper. Matthew 26:20, "When the evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve". Please note that Mary Magdalene are not in the twelve. Matthew 26:23, Jesus Replied "The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me." Mathew 26:25, "Then Judas, the one who would bethray him said "Surely not I, Rabbi?" Jesus answered, "Yes, it is you." So another claim by Dan Brown again have proven wrong by Bible. It is clear stated that Judas are there during the Last Supper. Even though there is not stated in the Bible that Jesus and Mary Magdaline are not married, it is also not stated that Jesus are married to Mary Magdaline or any other woman. And I don't think it is necessary to stated that Jesus is not married to any other woman because if there is no statement that he is married its mean he is not married. If there is ever doubt who was Jesus with and who was at his side, just read the Bible. It is clearly stated there inside the Bible and there is no code need to be broken to know it. As a Christian, just remember, never let this sort of thing make us lose our faith in Christ. Jesus have remind us the coming of false prophet and beware of them so we won't lose our faith in him.

My brother and sister in Christ, always keep the faith in Christ and we all have slavation on our side.

whoever wrote this quoted part of the bible wrong, Jesus never said point blank " yes it is you" to judas. what he said was "he that dippeth his bread into the bowl with me shall betray me" and then looked at judas after he did and said "go now and do what you must do

I'll check again on the same verse, it was written there. Even a King James Version have almost a similar meaning as the NIV. There are from other gospel that didn't mention about it. But from Matthew, it was written there.
